Meet Michael
Michael “Mike” Hinojosa was born and raised in southeast Houston, coming from a hardworking family where his father worked as a maintenance mechanic and his mother served as an office assistant.
He graduated from the Houston Independent School District (HISD) and became the first in his family’s history to attend and graduate from college, earning his BS degree in Community Healthcare from Texas A&M University in College Station.
Driven by a commitment to serve the community that shaped him, Mike joined the Houston Police Department as an officer in 2008.
Throughout his tenure, he has held a variety of impactful roles, including assignments in the Patrol Division, Investigative First Responders, Divisional Tactical Operations, and as a detective in both the Crimes Against Children and Auto Theft Divisions. His dedication and leadership led to his promotion to Sergeant in 2017. During his career, Mike advanced his education, earning a Master’s in Criminology from the University of Houston - Downtown in 2014 and a law degree from South Texas College of Law in 2022.
In 2014, Mike and his wife, Leslie, purchased their first home in Pasadena, a modest foreclosure near Strawberry Park. They raised their two sons there until 2017, when they moved to Pasadena’s District F. Mike has appreciated the family-friendly atmosphere and the rich diversity within the community. Over the past decade, he has observed Pasadena's significant growth, both in population and in business development, which inspired him to establish his own law firm, MIKE LAW, in Pasadena.
Mike believes that a strong government is built on open communication with residents and a steadfast commitment to advocating for the community's best interests. As Councilman for District F, Mike aims to leverage his leadership and expertise to build a brighter, stronger future for both his district and all of Pasadena.
